Toshiba presented its new device – JournE Touch Tablet. That 7-inch screen touch webpad uses ARM processor and runs Windows CE 6.0 Pro. It has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g adapter, 1GB Nand Flash internal memory, built-in two 0.5W speakers and SD*, MMC, MS and MS Pro, xD memory card slot. The docking station offers HDMI TV out and charging. Device should be released in Q4 2009 for estimated price €249.00.

Well, the JournE Touch Tablet looks very nice. Personally, I’m not going to use it to serf Internet of watch video. In my mind the latest Nokia’s Internet tablet N900 is much much better for that purpose as well as N810. But the JournE Touch Tablet seems the best option for control panel of home automation systems such LinuxMCE. Currently the LinuxMCE users can use used WebDT 366 with custom image and Linux-based Orbiter as a main control panel. But JournE Touch Tablet is a cheaper option and it’s new! Sure the LinuxMCE Orbiter for Win CE should be updated to be run Windows CE 6.0 or maybe the device cab be re-flashed with Linux image. Will see how it’ll be when the JournE Touch Tablet will be released.

Toshiba announced a new line of its LCD TVs. The top of the line ZH500 series measures in at 52- and 46-inches with 120Hz VA panels, 4x HDMI (1080/60p, 24p) inputs, 3x Ethernet (with DLNA support), 2x USB, Bluetooth, Firewire, SD slot and a DVR to record TV shows to the built-in 300GB HDD. If I understand clearly Toshiba added three Ethernet interfaces to have possibility use three external HDD via an I-O Data REGZA drive wrapped in DTCP-IP DRM. Because actually TV cannot be added to home network similar way as PC.

The new Toshiba TVs should be available for buying in May and June with price range from $1580 to $5580 according to their size and specification.

Toshiba announced in Japan a new series of its LCD TVs – Z3500. The TVs of that series combine ordinary LCD TV and PC where Linux is used as operation system (no information about what Linux distribution is there). It includes three Ethernet port to get media content from any Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) devices or Toshiba’s in-house VARDIA recorders. Using two USB ports you can connect to the TV external HDDs for recording TV shows.

Regardless of size – 37, 42, 46, 52, and 57 inch, each set boasts native 1080p at 24 or 60 frames per second, a 120Hz LCD panel that eliminates motion artifacts, and three HDMI inputs with deep color support.

The new PC-TV from Toshiba will start to sell in late September with price started from $3153.00.
