Sony and RealD will bring 3D at home theaters

Good news for all PS3 fans. Last week the specs for 3D Blu-ray were finalized and as result PS3 will have support 3D. So, if you already have Sony Playstation 3 you’ll just update its firmware to enjoy 3D effects (sure, you should have a 3D compatible TV). Also Sony will be licensing RealD tech for use in consumer products in 2010. If you don’t know the RealD is company who is behind the 3D technology for many of the high-end 3D films in theaters like Avatar, for example. That new 3D technology will be added to the 3D Bravia LCD TV line. It’ll need 3D eyewear to view the content.

Sony released networked Blu-ray player

Sony BDP-N460 Network Blu-ray Player

After LG and Samsung Sony announced its networked Blu-ray player. The BDP-N460 offers a practically standard set of online features – Netflix, YouTube, Blip.tv, Crackle, and Slacker Radio as well as its own BRAVIA Internet Video platform. The player sports Ethernet and USB port. It’d be possible to use WET610N Dual Band Wireless-N Ethernet Bridge adapter to connect the BDP-N460 to the local network. There is no information about possibility to play DivX or MKV files from USB storage or network shares.

Sure, the BDP-N460 provides functionality of high-end Blu-ray players such supporting BD-LIVE content, upscaling SD video to HD and outputting 1080p video with 7.1 Dolby Digital and DTS-HD audio via HDMI.

The BDP-N460 will be available this October at $249.99.

Yahoo! widgets on the 1080p ZBR9 / Z-Series Sony HDTVs

Sony recently announced its new 1080p TVs Z-series with support of Yahoo! Widget Engine to pull down Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, Slacker and other web-based content directly to the TV. Thanks to Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) it’ll be possible to playback video files from PC or NAS via local network. Welcome to TV 2.0!

There will be following models available in two sets. The first will contains 52-inch KDL-52XBR9, 46-inch KDL-46XBR, 40-inch KDL-40XBR90 and 32-inch and the seconds one – KDL-32XBR9, 52-inch KDL-52Z5100, 46-inch KDL-46Z5100, and 40-inch KDL-40Z5100. All of therm sport 1080p panels, BRAVIA Sync, four HDMI inputs, an Ethernet jack and an Energy Star 3.0 sticker.

The new Z-Series of Sony HDTVs should be available this Spring. No any info regarding the price.

New Sony remote control

Sony announced a three new remote controls for Japanese market – RM-PZ1FD, RM-PZ1SD and RM-PZ1D. The raisin of those gadgets is their simplicity. You didn’t find there LCD display even monochrome! The remotes have three infrared LEDs for a wider angle of coverage. The RM-PZ1FD is designed to handle by two hands (is has square shapes). The rest look like ordinary remotes. All three are waterproof. So, you can use them in the pool or jacuzzi without fear beak them.

The new Sony’s remote controls are compatible with 15 different brands such as Matsushita, JVC, Sharp, Toshiba, Sony etc. They available in Japan at $21.50.
