Samsung joined to the Panasonic and LG announced Skype functionality on its HDTV series 7000 and 8000. But additionally a FREETALK TV Camera should be bought (on the Skype online store, for example) to have possibility make video calls. Samsung TVs with built-in Skype are already available in Korea and should be available in Europe soon.

It seems that company understands the situation with media when everything goes in Internet. In my opinion replacement DVD/Blu-ray disks by their online analogs is a just a matter of time. Short time I hope.

Samsung released in Korea a quite interesting set – a 55-inch LED baclkit LCD TV and a brand new 7-inch touchscreen tablet. The tablet does not just perform the function of smart remote control for TV and home theater. It receives over 802.11n EPG, including video previews of TV shows, and allows access to media stored on a PC. But the most interesting feature is ability to stream live TV and Blu-ray content from the home theater to the tablet. So, you can have a mobile multi-room system easily. Netflix and Samsung’s bring Blu-ray players to on-line

According to information from Samsung web site Samsung and Netflix made an agreements to offer consumers watch internet movies and TV using a pair of Samsung Blu-ray players – BD-P2500 and BD-P2550. That’s cool feature by the way. You can use one device to playback DVD/Blu-ray disk and as a Netflix set-top-box to watch movies and TV shows over Internet.

Wireless Plasma TV from Samsung

Samsung's latest 94 Series plasma

Samsung released a new plasma series with a built-in 802.11n module. Thanks to that module a TV can communicate with a hidden receiver located up to 60 meters away from it. The receiver allows to transmit the audio and video signals up to 1080i HD resolution. It also includes three HDMI 1.3 ports with CEC technology for easy home theater expansion. Over-the-air HDTV channels can be viewed with the built-in NTSC/ATSC/QAM digital tuner.

The wireless plasmas will be available in 50-inch and 58-inch varieties at the end of the year with price $3599 and $5299, respectively.
