Since many video sources have aspect ratio still 4:3 it might be a good idea to detect it and set appropriate value automatically to avoid displaying black frame on your wide screen TV. Here is a patch for the MythTV 0.20 which can do this work.

According to MythTV News the plug-in Mythweather was redesigned and added to SVN. So, if you’re using MythTV built from the sources you can see the new style of that plug-in. For the rest here is a new Mythweather screenshot:
Also the release of MythTV 0.21 is getting closer. Most probably we’ll be able to install or upgrade the new version of MythTV this month.
As MythMaemo developers promised they implemented following features: program guide (EPG) support, creation of reminds (with alarm), manage of schedule record. Currently the changes are available in Subversion repository only but the package will be released on January.
MythTV - a well-known open source software for media centers is based on Linux. If you’re interested at least to playback its files on windows have a look MythTV Filters for Windows on SourceForge. The main goal of that project is “to make almost any mediaplayer able to handle mythtv files including streaming files from the backend and watching LiveTV”.

If your mythbackend crashes time to time the best way is investigate that case and find the reason. But if you cannot wait you can use pcsk (Process Creation’s Swiss-Army Knife) to re-run it after crash. Following brief howto describes the steps to configure pcsk and mythbackend to work together.
