Evesham Technology Mini PC

Evesham Technology Mini PC

Evesham Technology has updated its Mini PC line. The new Mini PC based on latest Core Duo processors from Intel that are compliant with Viiv technology. It has 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 100GB hard drive, built-in digital TV tuner, which allows to access the entire range of free-to-air TV channels. the Mini PC has a decent amount of connectivity in the form of S-Video, FireWire, two USB 2.0 ports, DVI, and the necessary audio ports. The Mini PC is powered by the Windows Media Center Edition operating system but I suspect it should be possible to install Linux there as well.
Owing to the fact that the Mini PC is compact (it’s just 50mm x 165mm x 165mm), power and looks attractive it might replace DVD and satellite box near your TV.

The new Mini PC is priced at £799.

Absolutely noiseless MiniPC’s ED612E

MiniPC's ED612E
Yet another mini PC from MiniPC - ED612E. It doesn’t seem very power - 1.2GHz VIA Eden proc, 256MB (1GB max) DDR2 memory, a 40GB SATA disk, VIA CN700 graphics chipset, 4 x USB 2.0, Firewire, S/PDIF/composite video out, and even a couple of PS/2 jacks. The dimensions are 20.6 x 19.0 x 7.3 cm. A subtle difference of ED612E is absolutely noiseless. Maybe it can be a reasont to pay about $679 green when the ED612E drops later this month in Japan. But taking into account that Mac Mini Core Duo price is US$778 and possibility to install Linux or Windows as second OS I’m not sure that ED612E will be very popular.

Japanese style MiniPC

VT800 MiniPC
MiniPC VT800 is a Japanese implementation of modern conception of small desktop PC. It features Intel Core Duo/Solo processor, Award Flash BIOS (seems to support PXE boot), 2GB DDR2 400 RAM, SATA HDD, 4 USB ports, TV out i. e. HD, built-in WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet.
The VT800 is goes on sale in Japan at the end of June with price $630. It seems good for using as Plutohome Media Director but there is not information about noise because it’s very critical parameter for living room devices.

Blueado HTPC “Sport Edition”

Blueado m5e is a Mac mini-inspired home theater PC. There is a “Sport Edition” of m5e. It’s packing in 2.0GHz Pentium M processor, integrated graphics, 2Gb RAM , HDD 400Gb and analog and digital tuners. Blueado has a wide variety of connectivity options such as USB 2.0, FireWire, DVI, VGA, S-video, and digital coax — along with Dolby Digital and DTS support for hooking up your surround sound speakers to the included RCA outputs. To complete a picture m5e includes a DVD burner, remote control, and million-in-one card reader.

The original version is priced by $1500. “Sport Edition” features add another $500 to this amount. Mac Mini seems more appropriate to build home theater (price is lower and set of features is the same nearly) except it’s difficult to install here Linux but it’s another story.

Recently I found a new aOpen mini PC which is very similar to Mac Mini. It’s amazing! If we won’t be able to boot Plutohome Media Director on our test Mac Mini aOpen can replace it.
