LG’s BD300 Netflix Blu-ray player UI looks nice

BD300-Home-Menu

Recently I wrote about new LG’s BD300 Netflix Blu-ray player which can play-back stream from Netflix on-line movie rent service. Here is another details about that interesting device. It has amazing UI (have a look on the screenshot). The BD300 can also play-back media content from networked PC or memory stick attached to the player’s USB port.

The BD300 will support Profile 2.0, interactive BD-Live features and Bonus View (picture-in-picture commentaries and special features).

Blu-ray player works as Netflix client

LG BD300 Network Blu-ray Disc Player

LG announced its new stylish BD300 Network Blu-ray Disc Player. It can play high definition Blu-ray discs and up-convert standard DVDs to 1080p. But this is not a reason to pay $500 for BD300. The most interesting feature is possibility to use that player as a Netflix client (Netflix is the world’s largest online movie rental service, with more than eight million subscribers). So, using BD300 Netflix subscribers will able to stream more than 12,000 choices of movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the TV for no additional charge. Sure it possible to use Roku to watch rented movies from Netflix. But it’s good idea to have combination DVD/Blu-ray and network player in one.

LG’s BD300 Network Blu-ray Disc Player will be available in US this September. So, movie fans, don’t miss it!

Integration iPhone/iPod Touch with BD-Live Blu-ray

iPhone

NetBlender is planning to integrate iPhone/iPod Touch with BD-Live Blu-Ray players. The new technology is named BD Touch. It’ll allow to consumer to use iPhone/iPod Touch as remote control for Blu-ray player as well as receive to the Apple’s device some media content, including advertising (I know that people hate it but what can we do? Producers want make money and DB Touch might give them a good opportunity). iPhone or iPod Touch can use WiFi connection of services offered by AT&T to communicate with the player.

Developers will able to create new BD Touch applications or integrate Blu-ray players into home automation systems using SDK, which is gonna be released as well. So, it seems that Apple’s gadgets became more and more popular and commonly used. I’m not surprised. iPhone offers the best user interface which can be applied in many places.
