Endeavor ST100 micro PC

Recently Epson lanched Endeavor ST100 micro PC. The 185 x 195 x 75 mm unit (it’s a bit bigger than Mac Mini) features packs an Intel Core 2 Duo (T7200, T7400, or T7600) processor, ATi’s Radeon Xpress 200M graphics chipset, up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 40GB to 160GB SATA drive options, and a dual-layer DVD burner. It also sports a set of ports  including VGA, audio in / out, Ethernet, 56k modem, and six USB 2.0 ports with a pair of them being on the front panel.

The Endeavor ST100 micro PC will be sold in Japan at just ¥59,850 ($508).

TVMax which is made by Miglia Technology brings you all the basic PVR features you would expect for a Mac including:

  • Watch, pause, rewind and skip forward Live TV, timeshift on your Mac.
  • Record and edit your favorite shows with a built in EPG (Electronic Program Guide).
  • One click Apple iPod (writes directly to iTunes) or Sony PSP export.
  • Hardware compression to MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX

Ultra Low Profile HTPC

Ultra Low Profile HTPC

Okoro Media System produced OMS-SX100 - Digital Entertainment System which is designed to handle all of your multimedia needs while keeping an ultra low profile. For $1350 you can get Intel Core Duo T2300 Yonah 667 MHz processor, 1GB RAM, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with HDMI Output, 250 GB SATA HDD, a DVD burner, 8 channel sound, an internal TV/radio tuner and a USB ATSC tuner in the elegant and slim case (39.12 x 6.86 x 34.80 cm).

There is a possibility to pay extra money and upgrade HTPC configuration including case with touchscreen. The OMS-SX100 comes with WinXP Home, WinXP Pro or MCE 2005 editions. You can also order it with BeyondTV or SageTV preinstalled. I suspect that it’s possible to install there one of the Linux-based PVR systems: VDR, MythTV or Freevo.

Absolutely noiseless MiniPC’s ED612E

MiniPC's ED612E
Yet another mini PC from MiniPC - ED612E. It doesn’t seem very power - 1.2GHz VIA Eden proc, 256MB (1GB max) DDR2 memory, a 40GB SATA disk, VIA CN700 graphics chipset, 4 x USB 2.0, Firewire, S/PDIF/composite video out, and even a couple of PS/2 jacks. The dimensions are 20.6 x 19.0 x 7.3 cm. A subtle difference of ED612E is absolutely noiseless. Maybe it can be a reasont to pay about $679 green when the ED612E drops later this month in Japan. But taking into account that Mac Mini Core Duo price is US$778 and possibility to install Linux or Windows as second OS I’m not sure that ED612E will be very popular.
