ASUS P2-M2A690G shots

UI2 with overlay and resolution 1080p
Yesterday I made a few shots of ASUS P2-M2A690G. It’s really great. I found that there are actually two sound cards. One uses analog and digital outputs and another - HDMI. That means it’s possible to send audio and video via one HDMI cable!

ASUS P2-M2A690G provides a bunch of outputs. It even allows pass audio via HDMI!

Hi Michael,
any comments about the noise level ?
Hi Sam,
It’s very quiet. Even with stock CPU cooler.
Hi Sam,
Nice one!
Is this a LinuxMCE Core unit, or is it a media player?

Lee
Hi Lee, I use it as a media director (media player). Think Sam uses it the same. But you can use it as a core. It has three expansion slots. So, you’ll able to add there the second NIC and TV tuner.
That’s correct, I use it as a MD too. Very happy with it. Only have one problem remaining: live TV with mythtv doesn’t work well: sound is ok but the picture is “jumpy”. Recorded shows and regular DVD/avi work fine. I suspect a video driver/settings issue (I use the proprietary driver). If anyone gets mythfront to work, i’d be happy to get their driver version and xorg.conf…
Sam, I tested ASUS with VDR and open source drives. It worked pretty well. I didn’t see any problem with picture or sound.
Hi guys - useful feedback, thanks.

Did you use the i386 installation, or the amd?
I use AMD64. But I think that it shouldn’t be a problem with i386.
Hi Michael - me again!
I’ve had troubles with flaky Core hardware, so I tried to install hybrid on this puppy (x2 5400 cpu with 2Gig ram - ought to be fine I thought…)
I haven’t fudged anything yet - no display drivers etc.
Installed Ok, went into the Wizard & was impossibly slow….mouse jerky & slow & click 30 times before action…keyboad painfully slow = 6 secs from hitting key to getting letter on screen - in fact I failed to complete the wizard as a result.
(On old Core, I installed a dozen times, so I think I’m used to how it works).
I’ve researched all over & it would seem that this *ought* to be powerful enough - have I missed something obvious?
(extra cards = Hauupauge, not yet found + Intel LAN card, which seemed OK).
Any pointers gratefully received!
Thanks
Lee
